Biennial of the Baltic Countries (Biennale der Ostseeländer)

A series of 13 exhibitions, from 1965 to 1989, that invited all the Baltic countries, including the ones that were part of the USSR at the time, to send art to Rostock. The biennale was organized by an international committee, while the individual selections were curated by committees in each respective country. The Biennial was the occasion for the first newly built museum in the GDR, the Kunsthalle Rostock.
