The exhibition was organized by Jindřich Chalupecký, an outstanding expert on Duchamp, Duchamp himself was involved (but died a few months before the opening, in Oct. 1, 1968).
The works in the show, almost 60 items, were on loan from Arturo Schwarz Gallery in Milano. Schwarz initially did not want to loan any works before the Soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia was ended, but Chalupecký was able to persuade him otherwise.
